Who We Are

VSPOT was founded in Park Slope in 2006 by Danny Carabaño, a former Brooklyn Tech math teacher and current compassionate plant based foodie. He immediately partnered with his brother Alex Carabaño who transformed our restaurant’s menu to be Latin themed plus handled all graphic design needs. A few years later, Steven Simicich, a lawyer and jack-of-all-trades, joined forces to help develop the business even further. VSPOT rapidly became known for it’s unique empanadas, spicy buffalo strips and traditional Colombian dishes such as arepas but with a vegan twist. In 2015, we expanded to the East Village with “VSPOT Organic” on the historic street of St. Mark's Place. This new space brought new opportunities, such as an event space called, “Brickspot Comedy” located in our back showroom plus a fully organic menu. We have hosted food competitions, fundraisers, birthday parties, book signings, stand up comedy shows and even started a popup vegan market. We now have a fourth partner and fellow vegan, Jordan Sachs, who’s focused on business development and organization. Please follow our current photos and video under our Instagram account @thevspotrestaurant and visit Brickspotcomedy.com for more information about our weekly comedy shows. If you would like to support cruelty-free humor, check out co-owner/stand up comedian, Alex Carabaño, on Instagram or YouTube!
